The best way to prevent infection in a child born to HBsAg positive mother is to give both active and passive immunization. Infants born to HBsAg positive mothers should be given hepatitis immunoglobulin (0.5 m 1/m) within 12 hours after birth. Along with this the first dose of hepatitis B recombinant vaccine is given.
